IPOD VIDEO TROUBLES

(1/1)

darkstar:
Im trying to install rockbox and im having troubles. I saved the three files needed for the ipod video to install than i open cammand promt and open the file rockbox where the three files are stored. I than plugged in my ipod video and typed
ipodpatcher 0
ipodpatcher 1, it sais its aborting because its not an ipod ,ok than i go to ipod patcher 2 than it sais error reading from disk: parameter is incorrect.
Than i type ipodpatcher 3 and it sais error reading from disk: the system can not find the file, than i go up to the ipodpatcher 27 and it sais the same error as it did in ipodpatcher 3.
It weird and by the way it shows as  a hard drive and i am able to put songs on, not only that its formatted in fat32.
Any suggestions

by the way i just got it yesterday from costco for $280 cad its the 30 gb and theres nothing wrong with it as far as im concerned and its 1.2 version

It sounds like you don't have a 5th generation iPod, but rather the newer "Generation 5.5"/ "Late 2006"/ "40% brighter screen" iPod.
Rockbox does not currently work on this model officially.
There is a forum thread here in the "New Ports" section on a way to load Rockbox on a gen 5.5, but the process is not for the faint of heart, and the usability appears questionable.
That said, it is being worked on, and no there is no time line for when support will be ready.

bro2baseball:
There are fairly simple instructions on how to install rockbox on the first post of this thread.
