Wired two stereo jacks on x5

I soldered two jacks into my x5 and also wired the usbtg to the jack port do i could charge it, any hoot I noticed that the cowon firmware has a lower volume on the line-out than rockbox does. I'm not real bright but does that have any effect on the battery life, would droppin the dB on the line-out save a bit of energy?
