IRiver H340: Player fails to respond
« on: November 08, 2006, 08:35:44 AM »
Hi,

My iriver H340 is not responding after i accidentally started up my pc with my H340 still attached via the usb cable. The screen on my iriver is a dull grey/white and will not respond at all: I have tried charging and pressing all the buttons including the reset button to no avail.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can bring my beloved jukebox back to life???

Many thanks in advance.

I'm in a similar position. I brough t my H340 over a year ago, man the software was bad, but it didnt crash. Today I downloaded todays daily build, the fonts and the boot loader and booted Rockbox for the first time.

The screen seemed to turn off very quickly, witin a second or two, fine if I was listening to music but not much fun for a noob trying to find his way around. While flicking back and forth between tracks, the screen froze.

Its still  there now. I suppose the battery will run down, and then I may be able to reboot. Hope so. Nothing works. Even pressing a stiff copper wire into each of the 3 holes in the base doesnt work. Ive never had to do that before! Thought at least one was a reset buton. I think I'm bricked. I have a photio of the screen.

It is here

The default backlight setting is quite short. You can change it (if you get your player working again) in Menu>General Settings>Display>LCD Settings>Backlight.

The reset button on an H340 is on the left of the player, just below the internal mic. Try poking your wire in there.

Ho ho!! So I used the wrong hole!!  Those poor screws getting poked at the bottonm of the machine!!

Yes reset worked and all is cheerful again. Guess thats why it says reset next to it in cheerful writing. It did crash tho, but that doesnt seem so serious now!

Yes, I was looking for that menu item at the time, trying to keep the light on while I read the manual.
Thanks very much for your help. I really thought the worst!
