Is this possible with otf playlists and how ?
« on: November 06, 2006, 11:43:11 AM »
On my iRiver H320 I have all my music in a directory "Music" and in that I have folders for artists and subfolders with cd's. I have Bookmarks set to Recent Only, resp. Unique.
Suppose I play a number of tracks from a cd and stop then. RB creates a Bookmark and on the next occasion I start with this bookmark. Normally I continue with the remaining tracks and after that the next folder (in alphabettical order) will be played, because I have set Change Directory to Yes.
When I continue with the created bookmark and add a random folder to the playlist with the playlist submenu, I noticed that the present cd is added to the playlist completely, thus not only the remaining tracks but also the ones I already played.
Is it however possible  to start with the created bookmark, playing ONLY the remaining tracks and then the chosen cd after that, using the otf playlist functon ? And how should I do that ?

If I understand what you're asking, you could accomplish what you're trying to do by setting "Auto Change Directory" to "random" so that it will choose a random directory when the current directory is complete.  There's no need to use OTF playlists.

Probably I was not clear enough and used the wrong word ("random"). With "random" I meant another one,  than the one that follows alphabetically, but
explicitly chosen by me.

IIUC this is normal and desired. When you set a bookmark it remembers the current playlist and the position within it. It doesn't discard played tracks at any time.

That's what it does?

Do you use "Insert last" to add the new directory at the end of the playlist?

I tried it, but it does not do what I want. Then after the present track is ready it continues with the first track of the added folder.
I will give an example of what I would like to do, if possible of course:
1) I play 10 tracks of 12 from a cd and stop playing as soon as track 11 has started, creating a bookmark.
2) Next time I start playing again, I select the created bookmark, and continue with track 11
3) I would like to play track 11 and then track 12 and after that, by means of the otf playlist function, another cd, but not the one that follows the present cd in alphabatical order.

Is that possible ?

Yes, use "Insert Last" to insert the folder of the next album... What you've described as happening comes from using "Insert" rather than "Insert Last"

O.K. It works now.
Must have done something wrong before.
Thanks Llorean.
