iPod 3g Rockbox PDF/online manual installation guide error/omission

The 3g manual (PDF/HTML/Online versions) are missing VITAL INFORMATION for installation.

The installation instruction section is currently missing code information on page 13 of the installation section:

"5. Merge the Rockbox boot loader you downloaded previously with the Apple firware." The instructions are missing the code to do this step.

It should include the following DOS prompt code:

ipod_fw -g 3g -o rockboot.bin -i apple_os.bin bootloader-3g.bin
----------------


I checked the other iPod version manuals, and they all have the correct code included...

Please report issues like that in the proper place, that is the tracker. If you manage to submit a patch, even better. But please don't report on this issue anymore, it's fixed (since 2 minutes). If there are other missing lines please use the tracker. Stuff like this gets lost in the forums.

So people can find it with a forum search... that's where I started and couldn't find it.  So posted here.  Glad to see it got fixed.

Didn't know an instruction manual omission was a "bug" in the Rockbox code, but so be it...even an old dog can be taught new tricks!

Just by way of explanation:  

As one of the authors of the manual, I periodically do a search of all bugs on Flyspray with category "manual" to see what corrections need to be made.  Also, I always review the Flyspray entries when I sit down to work on the manual.  On the other hand, if a correction to the manual is posted on the forums, I may see it if I happen to read that thread, but there is no guarantee.  Even if I do see it, however, it's unlikely that I will address it immediately as I am pretty busy right now with other things.  By the time I next sit down to work on the manual, I may not remember reading that thread.

The bottom line is, if a correction to the manual is properly posted on Flyspray, I will see it, whereas if it is posted on the forums I might see it.

How hard can it be? I fixed that issue, and I stated this in my reply. I also asked you to *not* report that issue as it's fixed. Quite some time before you filed that task, so there was plenty of time to read my response:

People not reading can get *really* annoying. Grrr.

This problem still exists but for the Linux installation.
