delay on my iAudio
« on: November 03, 2006, 04:03:51 PM »
Hi,

I installed the last version of Rockbox on my iAudio x5! Everything's working fine except that i got delay... i explain myself: when i start a song, and browse my music folders on iAudio, i got some delay (3 seconds or smth), and it's really weird because if i press next like 3 times, after few seconds, i'll open an other music for exemple (3 steps will be done). On origin firmware, i don't have this issue at all, it's instantaneous.

Some people got that same prob? will this be fixed in new releases? could that come from iAudio or that totally cause of rockbox? help me!

- link.

PS: http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=3719.0 << i browsed the forum and i think this is the same prob i got... there is a tutorial for iPod, do you think that could work for my iAudio x5? (and will it really decrease my battery life?)

Do you have DirectoryCache enabled?
If not, enable it, restart  and see if it solves the problem.

I suspect Directory Cache as well.

Turn it on via Menu-->General Settings-->System-->Disk-->Directory Cache

Then reboot.

Yeah, the X5 doesn't have a hard drive LED so when the disk spins up to read directories it just seems like a mysterious delay.
