codecs/general error on ipod 5g

(1/1)

fredericthewise:
on my ipod 5g rockbox tells me that there is no codec for ogg files, it also tells me similar things for my mp3 files, What coulds be wrong? i get no sound out of it at all and all i want to do is listen to music, nothing else.

Llorean:
It sounds like you didn't copy over the .rockbox folder as well, just the rockbox.ipod file.

fredericthewise:
i have  a .rockbox folder but is there something extra i need to put in it (there are some files already including .glyphcache and .playlist control)

could this be my problem, i have to add extra files to play media

also does it make a difference that i use linux

p.s. all my files are visible - they just don't play

Llorean:
Does the .rockbox folder have the codecs folder in it?

It sounds like you didn't copy it over when you extracted Rockbox...

fredericthewise:
hey i found it, i hadn't checked the folder for what in linux are hidden files, thanks a heap, it should work now.
man, i feel dumb now, but also quite happy!

p.s. i hope you don't have to deal with dills like me too much!
