ipod photo: audio stutters/gaps using pitch control or eq

Sorry if there's already a thread on this. The search function doesn't seem to be working at the moment.

I'm getting stutters and gaps in audio playback (mp3) when pitch control is adjusted (none when it's set to 100%). The pitch is the only parameter I've adjusted (no eq etc.. or other processor hogs).

And now I'm also getting the skip and stutters (and in one case a complete freeze) when just the eq is enabled. So even just one or the other (eq or pitch) causes problems.

I've adjusted anti-skip buffer back and forth, disk spindown, directory cacheing etc..... without any luck.

**Seems that, on my machine at least, the system won't allow any sound parameter adjustments without major hiccups and problems.

I'm running a IPOD PHOTO 60GB and would love to get rockbox humming.

Read the IpodFAQ wiki page. This is a performance issue and well known.

Thanks. Checked out wiki and built a very streamlined WPS. Will experiment with that.

Try encoding your music at a lower bitrate.

My experience:

<= 64 kbs no skipping while pitch control is on
= 96 kbs some skipping while pitch control is on
= 128 kbs more skipping while pitch control is on
= 164 kbs even more skipping while pitch control is on
