Of course, there's almost always room for improvement, but as far as I'm concerned, Rockbox for the 1st gen iPod is pretty much feature-complete (granted, I don't use many accessories that use the dock).
I have to agree on that. I picked up a used Nano to try it out and
I'm really happy with it. It's less fun to navigate than the Iriver, but
the small size makes up for this.
Not to turn this into a wishlist thread, but what are you looking for that isn't available now?
- Better protection of personal settings.
I normally just unplug the Nano, when done with copying
files onto it. This often causes a loss of my personal settings
like the chosen font. This never happens with the Iriver.
- A Menu entry to shut down the Nano.
Holding PLAY/PAUSE to stop the Ipod doesn't work that well.
I'd much rather have an additinal Menu option to turn off the
unit immediately.
- Support for FM transmitters.
These 1st gen Nano FM transmitters sell on ebay quite cheaply
(as they don't work with the newer models). They do not need
their own battery, connect to the Nano without cables and are
small enough to carry around all day. Having a Rockbox Radio station
in you pocket would be fun.
