How are you copying? Drag/drop? Right click, copy/paste? Command prompt copy command? iTunes?
What is the full text of the error? (I've never heard of that error). How does it show up? Dialog box? Error on the command window? Status bar of a program?
I think I might switch back to using the iPod firmware, until an improved version of Rockbox is released.

Well, you can always use iTunes to synch your player, and then use Rockbox's Tag Cache to browse the files in Rockbox.
