I can't find the .scrobbler.log file...
« on: October 31, 2006, 05:21:17 PM »
Using a JBR20 (V1) with the 10/24/06 daily build...I have the last.fm logging enabled (and I have rebooted it), but I don't see a .scrobbler.log file in the root of my Recorder...

Is logging unavailable for the JBR due to hardware limitations?  Or is there something else I need to know?

Logging is available for all platforms, but has had minimal testing on Archos devices.
For a track to be logged it has to have Track and Artist name tags, and you must listen to more than 50% of the track.  Also, are you peforming a clean shutdown before looking for the log file?

Yep.  I just did a clean shutdown & reboot to verify, and the log is not there.

As a sanity check, I even hooked it up to my PC and searched for the *scrob*.* and *.log (in case it was being thrown into some odd folder), both of which came up dry.

...so...um...yeah, something ain't working.  :)

Something I just thought of...does the logging pull from ID3v1 or v2 tags?  Or does that matter?

If you're looking for the file directly using Rockbox, make sure it's set to display all files - it will be hidden by default.

If not I can create a debug build for you -  yours is a Recorder v2?

I made sure I had it set to show all files...

...and it's a Recorder V1.

I may be wrong, but I know when the patch was first applied to the main CVS build, there was a slight bug in that the first track played was not registered.

Not sure if this has been fixed yet, but if you aren't already, it might be worth making sure you play a couple tracks before checking for the existence of the file.

Archo & last.fm (Re: I can't find the .scrobbler.log file...)
« Reply #6 on: February 07, 2007, 01:28:11 PM »
It seems, that this thread died?

I'm at the moment faced the same problem, using Archos (recorder) and scrobbler.log is not created.
I already tried standard hints: enabling the feature, rebooting, hidden files etc.

What me really makes wonder is, that it works a few times.
I'm interested in the exoerience of the other archos users.

If you run rockbox  on archos, does this feature work with your device?
If yes, did you any kind of troubleshooting?

regards, -tt

The bug captain_cornflake mentioned (#5495) is still in the SVN, so make sure you play a couple of tracks before checking if the file exists.

Thanks for the hint.

It seems not to be the same issue: not only the first track is affected at my device, all tracks are ignored. The log isn't created regardless the number of files I played.

I'm nit sure if I understood correctly, but the bug concerns  SWCODEC devices, as far as I know archos is decodeing the mp3 via hardware.

Obo: Is this patch included in the debug version you send me?
You were right with your estimation, last.fm is initiated, but no "SCE"  at track change so far .

i was on irc and we tested it with some other archoses.
it is a bug:  http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/6639
bad news is that it seems that there is no archos-using
developer interested in this feature  :'(
