iriver h320 - basic questions
petur:
very odd....
I just tried to reproduce with the latest cvs build and I see no such thing.
What version are you using?
Could you save your settings to a .cfg file and post it here?

Petur, thanks for your comments.
I was using the 2006-10-09 build. Last night I switched to the 2006-11-01 build, and it seems to be working OK. I didn't change any settings, only changed the daily build.
I would be happy to save my settings to a cfg file, if someone would explain how to do this.
Thus far I am extremely pleased with the h320. I'm getting in the range of 8 hours of record time, which is phenomenal.

Menu -> Manage settings -> write .cfg file
NAVI selects a character, PLAY actually saves the cfg (and REC erases a char iirc) - I mostly go for the default name and edit with the pc later ;)

Nice to hear. I think I managed 12 hours with an older version... when the new version is committed I'll maybe do another bench...

Thanks Petur. I will save a cfg file later tonight or tomorrow morning (Right now I'm in the middle of another record test. This one looks like it is going to go beyond 10 hours!)
And I noticed something else: I'm test recording from my stereo speakers. I just put in a CD that starts with a quiet song, and set the gain for that song. The next song was very loud -- and I noticed the clipping light was on, and was clipping galore. The clip light stayed on for a number of minutes. Is it possible that the backlight is aggregating the clip time -- i.e. if there were 20 clips, multiplying 20 clips times 10 seconds and staying on 200 seconds?
I can't say enough good things about the rockboxed iriver and the rockbox developers. This is, by far, my most favorite piece of gear -- both for its versatile playback capabilities, and its stealth recording capabilities (not to mention its affordability). (I should say these are my favorite pieces of gear plural, as I have an h120 and now this h320).

Every time clipping is detected, it marks current time + hold time as clip hold timeout. As long as clip hold is set, the backlight is triggered. So when it stops clipping, it should switch off backlight after clip hold + backlight timeout.
If you know a way to make it behave otherwise with current cvs version, do let us know.
