WPS code question - scrolling text.
« on: October 25, 2006, 10:00:52 PM »
Here is my question:
Is there a way to fix in place one word in a line, and scroll the remaining text?
For example:  consider  a line with the word Next:, with a scrolling Artist Name, Album, Track Name.  Is there a way, other than planting Next: as part of the background, to keep Next: from scrolling off the WPS, but only scroll the remaining ID3 info?
I have the line of code:
Code: [Select]
%alNext: %s%ar%Ia / %Id / %It
But the word Next: scrolls with the rest of the ID3 info.  Any suggestions?  Could it be this is not possible?

It is not possible in unpatched Rockbox. There *may* be patches that allow this (scroll margins might, but I really don't know).

I think Llorean's right. This is the patch: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/2954. Make the word "Next" part of the background or a bmp graphic, then scroll the id3 info between the word "Next" and the rest of the screen edge.

I *knew* I'd seen something like that. I'm just too lazy to find things for other people. I'm a grumpy old man like that. :-P

Perfect!  I think this is how the scrolling text should behave natively.

I agree, it's both intuitive and more functional that way.

I was unaware that a simple patch existed for this, I thought there was only the 'whole hog' scroll margins patch...
