SOLVED -ipod photo color/bmp all messy
Llorean:
Was your iPod running the most recent Apple firmware?
We had a few cases of inverted colors early on with the iPod photos I believe, but I thought the problem had been cleared up.
Stephan:
Thanks for your answer.
I don't know about hte firmware.
My ipod was a used mac model and I think it said sth. like firmware 1.2. I installed itunes on my winpartiton, to convert it into fat32.
Itunes said the ipod needed to be formated and so it did. After that it stated: "the firmware on your model is already up-todate", but i'm pretty sure, it now runs firmware 1.0.
How could the apple firmware affect rockbox?
Is it possible, that the rockbox loader is corrupted? Or if it was, would the rockbox image still boot properly as I think it does?
What are the correct steps to update the apple firmware, and re-install rockbox, now that i use the rockbox-loader?
--------edit
Okay, I see the problem now.
Windows degraded my firmware from 1.2.x to 1.0. That's probably why rockbox won't work flawless.
I re-installed the original apple bootloader with os 1.0 and now I'm stuck with itunes7 trying to upgrade my firmware, which doesn't work, because the ipod leaves disk mode with the pc screen showing forever "updating".
Now let's seek new firmware without itunes.
-----edit2
Okay, after some fuddling with itunes7 I downloaded the last version of the ipod updater (found on german chip-side) which already includes last firmware version 1.2.1. This nice program upgraded the ipod immediately and then I reinstalled rockbox etc. and now everything works like a charme.
So the color clash in rockbox was due to the old apple firmware of my ipod photo/color. I'm now happy to be using rockbox ever after. ;D
Cheers, Stephan
