iPod 3g
« on: October 24, 2006, 02:03:36 PM »
Hi,
I installed Rockbox on my 3g Ipod and it went well until I tried to plug it in to move music over...windows won't recognize it as a USB device.  It does show that something was plugged in but it says its an unkown device.  Is there a fix for this?

see the FAQ: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/IpodFAQ#Does_USB_work
If the disk mode fails then it's a hardware issue. If you are not in disk mode the result isn't surprising. Possibly your cable is broken.

I don't think the 3Gs have cable detection yet, so you have to manually reboot into disk mode.

Ok...thats what my problem is, no cable detection.  It works when I manually go to disk mode...so everything is as it should be.

Thanks...everything I read said it should automatically do it so I was confused when it didn't.
