iriver installation/ Mac

I'm trying to download the latest firmware update for my iriver H120-D, but the zip file won't open. I've tried to expand it with Stuffit, but it says "the file doesn't seem to be compressed or encoded". Can I do this on a Mac? I'm using OS 10.4.8. Any suggestions?

What file are you trying to extract?

Try using a different tool to extract it. Maybe stuffit is the problem. There really shouldn't be any reason they can't be extracted on a Mac.

I was just making sure you weren't trying to extract a .bin file (this has happened in the past)

I downloaded maczip, and now I'm having a problem downloading the firmare-(ihp_120.hex). It says I may need to download it in binary mode, or that if it's part of a multi-segment archive I must open the final segment in order for Zipit to open it. Any suggestions?

Why are you trying to open the .hex file with zipit? It's not a compressed file.

I see. My inexperience is showing. Which application will open it? There's no default app.

It's not a file to be opened... if you read the instructions they'll tell you what needs to be done with it.
