iRiver H120 REPAIRS - Sockets + Battery
« on: October 18, 2006, 07:37:33 AM »
just a few questions... / problems i may have...

first of all,

Q1: why does my LINE OUT signal levels get controled by my volume selection??.... why isnt it @ Unity / 0db output...

- 40db on the player is comming into my computer at almost 0DB...   - which i kno is because of mp3 compression n diffenernt levels n wat not but stil...

Q2:  i think my jack sockets might be stuffed or / dodgy cables because when ever i plug into a big PA system the levels dont even come up to 0db.. on a mixer  :S  but works fine with headphones...

Q:3 - MAIN... i wanna get a higher current MAH battery and install it because i need longer record times  up to 10hrs +    wat options do  i have ??

ALSO my USB charge isnt working  how do  i get it 2 work ?

EDIT - I THINK I JUST BLEW UP MY OUTPUTS... i had it on charge but cause  my plug is american n im in aussie im usuing a dodgy adaptor which is loose n it goes on n off charge and get extremely hot

now i dont get any output of sound and i dont get any input either....

Cheers for the input...

Brent

Firstly, please try to use real words. "Wat" is spelled "What" and the word "to" is not spelled "2". There are several other similar errors in your post, and our forum posting guidelines explain that we require an attempt be made at proper English. At the very least we require that you use real words.

Q1: This is a hardware limitation of the H120, the line out volume is not controllable seperately. -40dB on the unit just means "40db below the recorded level" and can really be any level depending on the record level of the file, how much you've boosted with bass/treble, and equalizer, and replaygain. Are *all* of your settings reset or do you have any of those in use?

Q2: What exactly are you using to measure the levels?

Q3: Your battery options don't really have anything to do with Rockbox. Just research batteries that fir the 1st and 2nd generation iPods. You'll have to swap the leads because the positive and negative are swapped, but other than that they should work.

The H120 does not support USB charging.

This is a known issue with the H120.  I think it may even be mentioned in the player's manual (the original iriver manual, that is).

is it possible in anyway that the software might just be stopping any of the input / outputs from working ??

i wanna try and get it working for this saturday...

but i gotta find the tools to pull it apart and have a look or give it to someone who knows wat there doing..

ive loaded it up on the original firmware and it is very laggy and non responsive to commands...

the headfones in and the line out sound dead.. but when i plug headfones into the input i get a slight pop/crackle

although i am not geting any input signal dected on line in

The Radio still works with the headfones connected as the antenna  it finds the stations on scan just no sound..

i am going to need a Torx screwdriver bit * that is smaller than a pin head pretty much ive tried those mini screw drivers used on computers and they are like 4x too big and my smallest screw driver bit from a security set and my torx set are 2x too big

once i  can get the torx screws out im hopeing that where it is blown is going to be really close to the section/ lid of the player where im goin to open it otherwise its gonna be hard trying to find it...
