Does this work for the first gen of the 4gb ipod mini. In the manual link i only see the 2nd gen,or they pretty mutch the same and you dont need to have a 2nd generation? ??? ???

Just click on the "Releases" or "Daily Builds" link and scroll down the page, where you will find 1st gen. & 2nd gen. download links.

It's very unlikely. I've never heard of anyone brick their player using Rockbox.
