RockBox for disabled?

(1/1)

rjcooper:
Hello,

I work with people with severe disabilities.  They cannot operate *any* MP3 player.  I would like to make some of the MP3's dealt with here, accessible.

I wish to modify the UI of Rockbox here, and investigate whether a modified UI could be installed to selected devices.

Anyone here that could help would be *greatly* appreciated!

One example would be for a single button to start a "scan", or a 'scroll through' (we call it "auto-scanning" in the Assistive Technology field) menu choices, rather than have to use different buttons.  When the user sees their desired choice highilited, they press a specific button (which I can hardwire to an external switch/button that even an almost completely paralyzed person can operate) and 'choose' that choice.

Thanks, anyone!

RJ :)

Interesting. While I don't see this kind of interface ever being part of the official Rockbox, it's still an idea worth pursuing.

I think it should be possible to use, for example, the remote control port of the iriver for your external trigger device.
