bug: unplugging nano triggers battery screen

(1/1)

xorbe:
Alright, so I just installed RockBox on my v1.1 2G iPod Nano, and here's the rub:

Everytime I unplug the Nano from the computer, it shows the battery icon for
a few seconds and goes dead.  To "revive" it, I hold down Menu+Select, plug
the USB cable in, and let go of the buttons.  When the Nano comes alive, unplug
the USB quickly before Windows sees it again...

Then everything works properly, shows 71% battery left, etc...

Surely this isn't normal?  ???  Thanks!

Llorean:
Do you actually tell windows to eject the iPod before unplugging?

Also, surely you mean 2gb, not 2G (which in these forums means 2nd Generation as clearly denoted in the posting guidelines) correct?

the_winch:
Nobody seems to know why the nano does that. When you run the battery flat the flat battery image shown is different to the one you get on a usb disconnect. Perhaps they inteneded it to warn you about disconnecting without first ejecting but used the wrong image.

To revive it just hold menu + select, you don't need to do the other stuff.

xorbe:
That is correct, I meant 2gb.  I was looking for what the heck 4G meant earlier...

Also, the comment about the flat battery icon being different than the one on disconnect is correct too.  I am ejecting it first, and no, it won't come back on unless I plug it back in.  Just pressing Menu+Select has no effect!  But I will try again just to make sure.

Rebooting into Apple fw first seemed to work last time, then I rebooted the Nano again into Rockbox after disconnecting the USB.

edit: The thing is that I've never seen this happen on our 2gb or 4gb Nano until I installed Rockbox on my 2gb one.  My brother put the 4gb one through the washing machine...  :'(

Thanks!
