Can I make Rockbox act like the Ipod Firmware??

(1/1)

bozzakwebmaster:
Hey Everyone,

I'm a total newbie so please bear with me!

I did install Rockbox twice on my Ipod 5G, but ended up reverting back to the Apple firmware because I was so used to the Ipod navigation and didn't find the navigation on the Rockbox firware easy.

Is there a way that I can install Rockbox and still have the same navigation as the Apple Firmware?

The only real option that I want from Rockbox is to dump the files on the Ipod as if it was a hard drive and being able to play the files that way. Is this possible?

Thanks

Martin

Yes, you can dump files on the ipod in any way you want and play them.  I'm not sure what you mean by making it act more like the ipod's firmware.  If you mean to browse your music by their id3 tags then you can refer to TagCache in the manual.

Really, Rockbox in general is not all too hard to use.  If you were able to successfully install it, you're savvy enough to at least learn to use Rockbox in an efficient manner.  When I first used it I was all fussy about what menu did (You mean I have to press left to go up a level!?), but it becomes natural in no-time and when you get back to Apple's fw, THAT'll feel foreign.

No.
Rockbox is different, has different approaches and different concepts. You can't just make it work "like apple" as it isn't intended to work this way. However, Rockbox isn't hard to use at all once you get used to it -- read the manual, and when you're used to it you don't want to go back to the OF ;-)
