IAudio X5 plus Rockbox = WOW!!!!
« on: October 14, 2006, 06:39:08 PM »
Being a fan of Rockbox since I first flashed it to my IRiver H300 one year ago I am disappointed with what happened on the IRiver front regarding new devices lately. So when my wife told me she would like to get an mp3 player for office use I decided to go with the X5 because of it's Rockbox compatibility.

The player arrived yesterday, and after copying 8,000 songs from IRiver to IAudio, I copied the bootloader and the latest build from this side, and voilà! a new Rockboxed mp3 giant!

FOLKS YOU ARE FANTASTIC! The X5 is obviously a great device, but together with Rockbox it is just amazing! Thanks for your huge efforts in this marvelous project!

The only problem now is that my 40G IRiver starts to run out of space and the 60G IAudio looks very tempting...

If you're at all good with taking things apart, get yourself a 60Gb Hard drive and swap it out with the iRiver's hard drive.  Just make sure you buy the right one.. (1.8inch, not a laptop hard drive.. look around the formums here or at misticriver.net)  you could also get an 80Gb drive that is the same physical size, but it may be hard to find.

Indeed this is also an option! I will look into that! Thanks!

But I believe any further discussion should be in a different forum  :)

Thanks!
