How is dircache supposed to work?

OK. A few more questions to help isolate the issue:

- are you running a 64mb build or a 32mb build?
- do you use the database? If so, is it loaded to RAM? Is it set to auto update?

I'm using a 64Mb build.
No, actually I don't use the database. If I check it to load into ram, it aggravates the issue.
I have aproximately 8000 files with an type/artists/album structure, and 7000+ playlists with the same structure.
