Tag cache on AJBR v2
« on: October 09, 2006, 05:16:56 PM »
Hey guys! I've been trying to use tag cache off and on with my AJBR v2 but have given up each and every time as it just wouldn't commit. The problem lies in the fact that I have upwards of 14k songs (80 gig drive) and it just takes an inordinate amount of time for tag cache to catalog everything. Despite being plugged in and charging my device will run out of power if I try to do cache everything at once; I have also tried breaking up the process by letting it go for 30-45 minutes, turning the device off, allowing tag cache to commit the changes, and then updating from then on, but I run into all kinds of problems, such as the device hanging on the update (it displays "commiting to tagcache 1/7" but the 1 never climbs up to 7) or other kinds of errors.

It would be awesome if someone could provide a way to compile the tag cache DB via a standalone program that could be run when the device is connected to a computer, thereby using a much more powerful processor to do what takes a very long time on just the jukebox. Otherwise, does anyone have any tips or tricks as to how I should be going about this properly?

Thanks!!

There is an app in the source code that can do this, but really don't know how that works. I presume you have to compile it somehow, but I don't know if it compiles for Windows or *nix...

If you're using iTunes, there's also an app about that will convert the iTunes db to Rockbox format. Again, I'm short of time at the moment and don't have the link to hand...
