OT: Ipod nano, how to tell which generation?

Hi,

I might be offered a nano tomorrow. As only 1. generation
players work with rockbox, is there an easy way to find out
which generation the nano is?

Coloured (though the 8 GB player is black) anodized aluminum = 2nd generation.
White or black plastic front with stainless steel back = 1st generation.
