WPS help
(1/1)
Trance Dog:
Hello!
I am new at this but my computer knowledge was enough for me to mod an existing WPS to make it more neat and add/change information I need, like clock and the battery status that shows the time remaining. I've also modded it to show a file name instead of the id3 tag.
But.....I can't get the same thing to work for the next track, meaning I can't figure out how to use %fn to show the next track. It only shows the current one.
Also, is there a way to get rid of a leading track # while showing a file name?
All my tracks have this format:
Track # (2 digit number) - Artist - Title
So, would it be possible for it to look at the beginning of a name to determine if there is this occurence: number(space)-(space), and, if there is, remove 5 leading characters, otherwise, leave it untouched?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Genre9mp3:
You need to use the %Fn tag. This will show the next track's filename (without the extension)
About your second question, it's not possible. But since you want to display only "Artist" and "Title" why not use id3 tags? In case your files are not tagged at all, you don't have to worry... With a mass tagging tool you can easily tag all your files automatically without having to type anything (using info from the filename).
For instance, here's a quick tutorial with Mp3Tag:
1. Open all your files with Mp3Tag (root folder of your music collection)
2. Ctrl-A to select them all
3. Click the "Filename - Tag" button on the top
4. Enter your filenaming format (in your case that is: "%track% - %artist% - %title%" without the quotes) and click OK
...that's it! ;)
Trance Dog:
Thank you for your answer!
So, the whole thing was in using a capital F!
About the tags: I do have the tags but they are all v1 and do get cut off in the end.
May be I'll just write v2 tags and get it over with:-)
Hweb21:
hm i think there is a option in the menu that says V1 then V2 and V2 then V1 not sure.
Trance Dog:
Right, but v1 has a limited number of chars, that's why it gets truncated and that's why I have chosen to use the file name.
You all can say wouldn't it be easier to use v2 instead. Just believe me, in my case it is not easier :-)
So far, so good, anyway. I made it work exactly the way I needed, thanks for help.
