Default System Font Question
« on: October 08, 2006, 08:22:09 PM »
Hi all,

I’m hoping this is an appropriate place to post this question – I’m thinking so but if not I apologize in advance.

I am visually impaired user running on the iriver H340 and am totally digging the rockbox firmware!  I'm wondering if anyone knows if there's a way to change the system font for things like the boot screen, quick menu, screen keyboard, recording screen, battery indicator, clock, and plugins etc.  Due to my low vision I am using the win_crox4h font which is fantastic as its total hugeness allows me to see the screen without any difficulties whatsoever!  I would love to be able to use the system functions I mentioned above but am unable to do so as the default system font is far too small for me to see.  Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might achieve this?  Thanks so much for all the hard work everyone is doing on this project!!

Cheers,

Shawn

At the moment alternate fonts are not possible in many screens.

As an option, for the Battery Indicator and Clock you can include both in your WPS (some people create a conditional so that they only show up while the music is paused, or while the hold switch is set).

For the boot screen, the information there is of very little use to you in the vast majority of cases, so I would recommend not worrying about that unless you already have a need for it.

Unfortunately the only way, at this time, to change the fonts in all of the screens you've mentioned is to recompile Rockbox using a different system font, and in many cases this would require changes to the various screens' layouts in order to fit everything or allow for scrolling.
