Fonts differ in menu and wps

Hi.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but when I want to play a sigur ros album, the fonts show fine in the wps, but not the menu. I thought they both use the same character set?

The WPS is showing the values of your ID3 tags.
The filebrowser is showing the actual file names.
I am willing to bet that the characters you are seeing in the WPS are illegal characters on a FAT32 drive, and thus they have been replaced with different characters when the files were named.

I named the files using the same characters directly from the id3 tags. As far as I know theyre identical and is fine in explorer.

Look for me.  Any good tagger will make legal filenames with the closest character.

Ive used Tag&Renamer which is a very good tagger, still same result.

Ipodfoo. That's the exact problem. Your Tag&Renamer has created tag info with "legal" characters, which it has deduced from illegal filename characters.

To fix this, you can now use Tag&Rename in reverse, and get it to rename all the original files, based on the "legal charactered" ID3 tag info.

Flid: Tried that as well. Ive manually typed in the tags or retreived from a database, got tag&renamer to rename the files, all looks fine till viewing them in rockbox.

How do you know if youre using an illegal character on the pc as it all displays fine on it, jus not in rockbox.
