I accidently formatted ipod drive - how do i set it up again?
loboxx:
Hi everybody!
...I just intended to switch to rockbox now; and by trying so I screwed it up completely (ipod mini 4gb/2nd gen - PC = WinXp Home Ed. SP2) : So here's what I did:
The ipod showed as drive; and since I read that rockbox only works with FAT32 I formatted the drive as FAT32 (what I shouldn't have done I guess). Now the Ipod shows as a drive having one partition only. I didn't do a backup of the ipod firmware before...
After this I tried ipodpatcher 0...1...2...30, etc. - but no ipod is found.
Can anyone please help me, how I set up my ipod w/ rockbox starting at this point?
Tx a lot - !!

Febs:
Use the recovery tool in iTunes to restore the player, and then follow the installation instructions, which will explain step by step what you need to do to install Rockbox.

tx - somethimes solutions are so near... I wonder why I didn't think about doing this - tx a lot. In fact iTunes never was installed on my PC since I just bought this iPod and wanted to switch to rockbox right away (need .ogg and want to manage music by files and folders...).

ok - ran into next problem...
i did as recommended; and everything was fine until rebooting the iPod after installing the bootloader. Eversince the Ipod keeps reebooting:
1.) shows apple-logo
2.) shows rockbox-bootloader-text
3.) shows error; and reeboots right away -> 1.)
the iPod is not shown as a drive; holding Menu/Play for 6 seconds doesn't help; so the iPod keeps circling its boot again and again...
kind of a frustrating thing here... now I even can't recover it w/ iTunes...
Can somebody give me a hint what to do now?? Appreciate your thoughts...

Menu+Play doesnt do anything.
Menu+Select resets, Play+Select is disk mode, after a reset.
