Rockbox for my new iPod Nano 2nd gen?
« on: October 07, 2006, 09:36:49 AM »
Greetings!

I purchased the brand new Nano 8gb 2nd gen yesterday, and this is my first iPod so I'm not quite familiar with it yet.
I am happy with the menues and the design, but something that I'm missing is a manual 5/10-band EQ. There are only presets.
I heard about this Rockbox, that's supposed to have a manual EQ.
Are there any plans for making it compatible with 2nd gen Nano? And when will that be? I really need an EQ to shape the sound like I did on my earlier players.

One more question -
Will Rockbox totally change my menus? Or will the "original" iPod menu skin remain, but with more functions?

Thank you

Someone is working on it, but this may take some time, because nano 2g has different hardware, except the larger memory.

Rockbox is a complete rewrite and uses no fragments of any original firmwares.

in other words: Rockbox will totally change your menus.

Is there any screenshot or something that can show me how the current Rockbox for Nano is looking like?
And also - if I change my mind about the Rockbox after installing it (when it's finished) - can I simply change back to the original firmware? And what does the warranty say about this in-official firmware upgrade?

Please just read the wiki or search the forums, all the questions you've asked have been answered quite a few times in the past =/

Also, check the Nano WPS wiki page for themes, as some people look at stock rockbox and give up before they see what you can do with it.  ;)

if you look at the first generation nano manual there should be some screenshots in that, and it gives you a general idea of what rockbox can do and how to use it
