L[0ne]R:
Discovered Rockbox just yesterday, but after I installed it, I was totally amazed. This is a GREAT job. Keep it up.
Ok, now about what I actually wanted to say.
It doesn't have much to do with the RockBox itself but the website, which needs to be completely reorganized. When I first got onto this website, I would have never find where to download themes, patches, plug-ins, find the documentation I need, etc. if I got all the necessary links from someone's signature in some forum. Considering that RockBox is a completely new firmware with theme and plug-in support for mp3-players, then how come the link to actual themes and plug-ins is in some "wiki" section lost somewhere in the middle of a long list of various links? IMHO it HAS to be on the front page in bold font and maybe even in a different color, as well as links to plug-ins, patches etc. If it stays the way it is - I doubt that many people will even know what rockbox is, if they can't even find the description among pages and pages of text and links. (Sorry if I'm sounding rude, I'm just trying to show the reality of the situation)
It would be great if you'd work at least a little bit on this. I know you have lots of other things to do, so I might help with that, I do a lot of organizing. :) Maybe I could even help with the design of the website, if I have time.
A little bit of re-organizing in Rockbox itself would also be good.
for example, here's my variant of main menu:
Recent Bookmarks
---divider---
Browse plug-ins
Browse themes
---divider---
Playlist options
Settings - sound
Settings - General
Manage settings
Info
or just add symbols in the beginning of menu. Something like this:
[Recent Bookmarks]
^ Browse plug-ins
^ Browse themes
= Playlist options
*Settings - sound
*Settings - General
*Manage settings
? Info
P.S. Sorry for my english.
P.P.S. Good Luck. :)

I really, really, really find this hard to believe. Look at the navigation panel on the rockbox.org main page. The word "documentation" is displayed prominently, and highlighted. The first thing under that is "manual," which contains a comprehensive description of, among other things, plug-ins, themes, etc. How could it possibly be any easier to find the manual?

Why would the op make such a post if it wasn't true? It's a lot of typing for no real reason if it isn't.
Perhaps the hompage would be better with different information on it. News items and CVS history are useful but I don't think it would be a problem if they where moved to another page.
The main area of the page where people look when the page loads would then be free for a more detailed description of what rockbox is and a few more documentation links.

I'm not questioning his motivation for the post. What I am questioning is how it is possible that people have trouble finding the documentation, which there is a link on the front page (and on every page, for that matter, since it is in the navigation frame) to "documentation." I literally do not know how we could possibly make it any more clear than this.
Now, if the problem is that the manual is lacking with respect to a particular piece of information, that is a different story. In that case, however, the appropriate thing to do would be to submit a patch, not just to say, "I don't like it, but YOU fix it."
