USB logo moved to external bitmap: meaning?

(1/2) > >>

Mikerman:
I see in today's source code changes,

--- Quote ---Move USB logo to an external (native-depth) bitmap.
--- End quote ---

Does that mean that it is possible to change the USB image, and where might it be found?  And is it simply a matter of substituting a new file, or would that need to be done pre-compiling?

If this is the case, could be nice to have people submit their alternate USB images.   :)

linuxstb:
It means that the USB logo is stored as an external .bmp file in the Rockbox source.  To change the logo you need to replace that .bmp file in the source and recompile.

But it means that we can now easily display different USB logos on the main LCD and remote LCD, and different logos for the larger (and colour) LCDs.

So we now need someone to design and draw those logos (for all targets...).

Mikerman:
That's great news!  :)   Where are the USB bmps stored/what are they named?

I know that some artist-types had developed alternate USB pics at Misticriver.net--maybe some of them will contribute images.  There certainly is no lack of talent around!  And I believe some alternates may have been posted here as well, maybe 6-9 months ago.

Also, what are the size specs, for artists to aim at?

That must be the same size than the WPS because it use a bitmap.
Thus, you can find all the informations here :

atm it looks like only 100x32 1bit, but you can probably safely assume that eventually the full size for each target will be required.
