A Noob with some Questions
« on: October 05, 2006, 08:44:47 PM »
I just installed RockBox on My 2 gig nano and it ROCKS!! I just spent the last hour fiddling with it, and I have figured alot out, but I have some questions:

1. Is there any way to make it look more... hmm... Cool? Its kinda boring looking. The courier new font... I did figure out how to change the colour, but is there a way to make it look like the Apple OS?

2. How do you install other plug-ins? The Manual doesn't have to much on the acutal installation part.

3. How do I play music from RockBox without switching to Apple OS?

I look forward to your answers!

Thanks!

1) Yes, see the sections relating to Themes and WPS in the manual or wiki, though you cannot get it looking exactly like the Apple OS. Rockbox is not intended to clone another OS's appearance and so we haven't gone out of our way to add graphical features explicitly to be able to.

2) All official plugins are included with Rockbox. Is there any particular plugin you're trying to install? If so, perhaps you should ask its author what the recommended method is for theirs.

3) Umm... click on the song? Music playback should as well have been covered in the manual...

Wait.
There are "unofficial" pluggins?  My wife once told me "it still can't make toast", and I'd like to prove her wrong.  Where else should I be looking?

Well, there are occasionally plugins on the patch tracker. Also there used to be a website called "Plugbox" that hosted some H300-specific plugins (it seems to be gone now).

Perhaps if there was some way to overclock and hence overheat some of the players you could pop it on a piece of bread and it should toast it. It'd probably be the last thing the player does, but if your wife really wants toast...

:)
