And if you want to play gameboy games, get a gameboy and don't use rockboy? If you want to play wma files then get a player that does it by default?

The whole rockbox thing is about what CAN be done with you mp3-player, not what is sensible to do!
Nobody will say that a screensaver like demystify is sensible, nevertheless it has been done and is officially included in Rockbox!

If video with sound doesn't work without a coprocessor, O.K, then we'll have to wait.
If video with sound DOES work without a coprocessor, why shouldn't we try and do it?

Llorean:
Because *everything* works without a coprocessor. But video with sound will work MUCH better with the coprocessor, with compressed audio at decent qualities.

Why rush it, waste time doing it in a way you won't even keep, then redo the work getting it working in a different way once it can be done better, instead of just working toward that  better way all along so that it gets here sooner?

As a programmer myself, I wouldn't waste time writing codes that I know that WILL surely be scrapped later on. If I know, a certain thing would work way better with that hardware, I would run the codes for that hardware in the first place and not double the effort needed to get the same product by doing it one way and then another.

It is easy for you to say, lets do this and that but remember, you aren't the one who is doing something. The effort is just not worth it.

gnu:
OK, understood.

I'll be quiet or learn to code now  ;)
