ipod os and rockbox

im sorry if this hsa been discussed before, but i coudnt find it so sorry!,
but my question is that is it possible to use the apple os and rockbox at the same time. by that  i mean can u switch back to apple os on the ipod, or will i be stuck with just rockbox.
