Does installation erase songs ?
fab:
Hello,
I searched in the documentation, and didn't saw anything about this.
I suppose rockbox installation only replace OS, don't format the partition, and keep songs in place.... am I true ?
I have a 60GB 5G.
Thank you for this software, it looks like amazing and much more fun than the apple one ;)

No, installing Rockbox doesn't erase anything (it doesn't touch anything on the second partition - where the music/data is stored).
The only changes are made to the boot partition.
As with anything, there is always a small chance of something bad happening. IMO the best practise is to always have a backup.

Thank you.
I will first perform a backup.

Well, i have the same problem. the mp3's are on the drive, but apple os doesn't want to recognize them. Yes, i have tried rebuilding the iTunesDB.

but i might be of some help. with rockbox, its all drag and drop in windows explorer, no more need for itunes. you can play the music iTunes put on the iPod, but, itunes renames them and hides them in seperate folders.
usually just searching on the iPod in the file browser will find em. ;)
hope i was of some help
