Ipod Video 60gig crash
« on: October 02, 2006, 06:30:47 PM »
Alright, I put rockbox on my nano flawlessly and everytihng was good. Then I come to put it on the 60 gig video and in the end all I get is the " Connect to your computer, Use Itunes to restore" message.

Now I am an idiot because I did not save my bootpartition.bin (modded the ipod at school and it was erased)

Now I have tried to restore it using the updater but my computer freezes everytime I plug the Ipod into it. Any suggestions?

If you're absolutely sure you can't connect it to your computer, then see if you can take it to an apple store to have them restore it for you

It doesn't matter how screwed up your device is, if the computer crashes when you plug it in, something is wrong with the computer.  Try and fix it, or use a different computer.

I agree with this 100% but I have tried it with 3 different computers so far. My own, my sisters and the schools. I am going to try my friends laptop when he arrives at school but I doubt it will make a difference. I have a few linux computers at home, I wonder if I will have more luck with those.

You are putting it into emergency disk mode before you plug in the USB cable, right?

If you've been a good boy:
If the ipod is crashing multiple computers upon being plugged in, I'd suspect a short in the USB cable.

If you've been a naughty boy:
If the ipod is crashing multiple computers upon being plugged in, I'd suspect a short in the ipod's USB wiring/connector.

EDIT.

Ahh, but he said "freeze", not crash.
