DAC? correct me if I'm wrong, but an audio decoder?

The h10 has left/right outputs in the usb port, doesnt this mean anything.

Llorean:
Okay, maybe you should clarify. Your first suggestion was Digital audio over USB. If it's analog with left and right channels already, that's not digital, nor is it over USB. I guarantee you, an actual USB port does not have "Left" and "Right" channels, so I assume you're talking about the dock connector, which should be called such to avoid confusion.

"Playing through the USB port" is different from "Using the line out pins in the dock connector" by a very long shot.

wafflesomd:
I mean sound from the line out pins.

Febs:
It sounds like what you are looking for is an analog line-out through the dock connector.   The dock connector is the way that you access the line-out on an iPod (which is what you identified as your inspiration for this suggestion).  It's true that the dock connector is also used to access USB, but that doesn't mean that the iPod is using USB to access audio.  Some of the pins on the dock connector are used for analog line-out, and others are used for the USB connection.

Check that out, that's where I got my idea.
