Themes on X5V
(1/1)
DirtyWizard:
Yoo ,
I don't know for sure if this is the right place , so sorry if I'm wrong
I just installed the rockbox on my X5L, I LOVE IT!
But I can't seem to get any theme working, they all say that they are loading but nothing seems to be change. What am I doing wrong ?
Znirk:
Themes can change three things:1) the layout of the While-Playing Screen ("WPS", the one that shows track and timing information while a track is playing) and RWPS (same thing on the remote), 2) the font used in all screens and menus, and 3) (but none of the included themes do that as far as I know) the background image for the menus
When you say "nothing seems to change", do you mean immediately (while you're still in the menu) or have you checked the WPS?
Have you downloaded the fonts package? The fonts are a largeish block of data that don't change very often, therefore only the rockbox default font is included in the daily builds. If you (or the theme you choose) want to use any other fonts, you'll have to add them to your rockbox first.

To be exact: themes are simply cfg files and are handled as such. This means that in theory a theme file can change any parameter that is possible to modify with cfg files. Of course it doesn't make sense for a theme to e.g. change the equalizer setting, so this shouldn't be done (and isn't done for the stock themes). Usually themes should only affect the settings you mentioned (and perhaps the color settings).
For someone to help you, please specify what "nothing seems to change" exactly means. Crystal balls are usually hard to read and error-prone.

hey ,
Thanks for the answers. I needed to install soms extra fonts before the themes became visible. It al seems to work ok now , thanks for the help.
