iPod 5G with Software 1.2 Upgrade WPS question

I looked through a number of topics regarding iPod 5G users that upgraded to software version 1.2 and did not see one that regarded my question, hence the new topic.

So the question... does software 1.2 cause rockbox.ipod, patches compiled within, and the .rockbox content to function differently?

The reason I ask is I had version 1.1.2 before upgrading my iPod and all themes functioned properly for the most part.  Now when I install the newest jBuild or any build with patches applied (as well as the regular rockbox build) nothing seems to function as expected.  The fonts do not load as requested by the cfg files, wps files do not load properly, and everything is a mess to be honest.  I am doing nothing different than the first time I loaded Rockbox on my iPod and added a number of themes.  That's why I'm thinking software 1.2 may be the cause of this issue.

If anyone is experiencing this same problem or knows what may be the cause please reply.

Yes, I have tried reinstalling everything about a dozen times.  I also tried to match build dates so the daily build, font pack, and, when used, the jbuild are all from August 30th.

The iPod 1.2 firmware isn't actually in memory at all while Rockbox is running, so it should be unable to affect things.

Which WPS are you trying with the official CVS Rockbox build, and if you could take a screendump of how that looks (again, a WPS that should work with CVS, in unpatched CVS, going wrong).

Is there an option to take a screenshot through Rockbox?  If so I'd be glad to post a few.  I can describe them for now.

I installed the CVS build from 0830 and then copied over the files from jBuild (also 0830) and tried running the Green5G and jBlackGlass themes.  The non-WPS screen fonts seem to be pushed in to the right and dwon from the top about 10 pixels farther than my previous experience.  The time, battery display, and volume display at the top of the non-WPS are flush with the top of the LCD display.  This makes me think the patches are not taking affect, since last time I used it and it was functioning properly they were about 5 pixels down from the very top of the LCD display.

I also tried Theme X HighBar and all of the non-WPS fonts seem to display as Rockbox default and during the WPS all of the fonts seem to be pushed down about 25-30 pixels from where they should be displayed.  A lot of the fonts are also being cut off or going behind graphics, or so it appears by their being cut off.

Even WPS's that do not require patches (frostbox, AjentOrange/Blue which I did not see any patch requirements) display fonts improperly.  I tried manually loading the WPS file and changing the fonts through the Menu option but it only causes other issues.

Okay, "CVS build" means the most recent build, not modified. You said you're using Jbuild. What part of "official" implied to you that using an unofficial build was what I wanted you to do?

I have tried using frostbox, both Ajant themes, and arcticdesert on the "official" CVS build.  I appologize for not interpreting your reply properly and thank you for your help but see no need for a biting return.

I am going to remove both rockbox.ipod and .rockbox and try reinstalling the two files with today's "official" build then test the themes that do not require special builds or patches.

L:  Thank you for the information, if the problem still occurs after this reinstall I will post the images of the issue I am having.

I reloaded the "official" CVS build from 092606 and the themes and WPS are working properly.  The only positioning issue I see is on Theme X HighBar.  The song name, current song position, and song duration seem to be pushed left a bit.  I have attached the image.

Hm. Well, I'm assuming there should be a closing parenthesis on the "(Feat." bit so I'm curious what's happening there.

It looks like your font has wrong sized spaces for some reason, since the 0:59 and -4:13 are the wrong distance apart as well, so everything spaced by spaces looks wrong.

Yes, there is suppose to be more text at the end of the song title.  The text does not scroll.  I am not sure if this is WPS driven or not, but I looked at the settings in the Menu option and nothing is set differently than default.

I tried some other themes and WPS's and none of them are scrolling, so I am going to Update the TagCache to see if that has anything to do with it, it may not.  Could the file name length have anything to do with the ID3 priority?

Download my Lights wps from the Wiki, and install the Nimbus 12 font contained there.

I don't know where there are 2 Nimbus 12 fonts, but one of them (the one you have) is 1 less pixel wide on the spaces than the other (the one in my Lights wps)

Yotto:  Thank you for the advice.  I must have installed the alternate version of the nimbus-12 font you were talking about.  Instead of using the one from your file (nice theme by the way) I just overwrote all of the fonts in my folder with those in today's font package build.
