iriver H1XX WAV Recording options
« on: September 24, 2006, 02:21:46 AM »
These subjects are not current features (as far as I can tell), but I'm curious if any are possible:

Is it possible to record 24 bit wav files on the iriver H140?
Is it possible to record at much higher (and lower) sample rates?

My newly acquired H140 actually has no trouble playing back a 24 bit / 88.2k wav file.

Higher quality settings are desirable for the obvious reasons...
I'm equally interested in very low sample rates for time-lapse (infrasound) pcm recordings.
I used to do this with my Neuros recorder before it died.. (actually I killed it). It could record at 8kHz/16 bit, so you could actually set it up and let it record for days.... weeks maybe.

Thanks!

Damion

No. The hardware can only handle up to 20 bits.

Lower: Yes.
Higher: I'll have to check.

That's because the firmware strips and resamples it to 44.1kHz/16 bits.

It's sort of oddball, but that might be a nice option...
