How to install Rockbox on a 1.2 firmware (5th gen and 1st gen Nano)

Actually, just to pinpoint something.
You can actually downgrade the firmware by installing the previous Updater to restore it to factory settings

Didn't work out for me. Maybe I got to give it another try though...
--- Quote ---I do not recommend doing this for a Nano v1.2.
This is because the Nano with v1.2 has the extra component of firmware (the Nike+iPod bit) that needs extracting, just like the 5G has a Broadcom firmware. The installer at this point doesn't pick up on that and will not extract the Nike firmware on the v1.2 Nano - probably leading to installation problems.
The new version, with a way better GUI and feature set (also coded in NSIS), will be out next week sometime. It will address this problem and more - plus you won't have to fake a sysinfo file for it to recognise generation.

Oh well, mine works fine. But if there's an update coming out for 1.2 in a few day's time, better wait then ;)
Kreator666:
What, you're saying that Rockbox works on a v1.2 Nano without extracting the Nike firmware?
Odd behaviour, from what I've read it shouldn't work...
Noxneo:
Well mine works perfectly since a few days. It's a 1.2 Nano.
However, I didn't boot in Apple OS since Rockbox is installed...

Well, that's always been the issue. If you don't follow the new (wiki, not these) instructions for installing on a Nano with FW 1.2 Rockbox works fine, but the Apple Firmware won't see songs.
Noxneo:
Hum, I don't give a damn about the apple firmware anyway ;D
But I guess it'll be better to wait for 3.0 to come out then.
