How to install Rockbox on a 1.2 firmware (5th gen and 1st gen Nano)

I received it last Friday, Sept 22nd...  If I had done more research and known about the 5.5, I would have gone to Walley World instead of Apple.com

Sorry, somehow I read "I received it August 22nd from..." rather than "on the". I really don't know how.

But yeah, Sept 22nd then it would be a 5.5G.

I installed rockbox on my 5th generation iPod with fw 1.2 and haven't done any of the instructions above and my Pod seems to work fine?

The instructions are catered for the unofficial installer.

I'm new to the forum as well to the IPOD.  Just got my first IPOD tne new 80 gig video. I have used RockBox for ages all the way back to a Archos 6000.  So I have tried what is suggested in this thread and even though my IPOD shows up as a drive under explorer when using the installer or cmd line IPODPATCHER the Ipod is not located.  Thoughts anyone. FW is 1.2

The ipod 80GB is not a 5th generation, it is the so-called 5.5G, and is not supported by rockbox at this time.
