Question about ipod shuffle/file menu
« on: September 19, 2006, 05:33:30 PM »
jw ... im thinking about installing rockbox on my ipod, for the only reason that ill hopefully during shuffle mode be able to hold down the center button enter the file menu and click on a selection or whatever that would then send me to more songs by that artist on my ipod.  Its frustrating hearing a song I like and  wanting to hear more songs from that artist but having to exit shuffle go to artists, find the artist, and push play while trying to drive my car  ;D .

anyways ... my main question is, is this funtion built into rockbox or is there an easy way for me to add it to the file menu.

-Thanks

It's not built in.

It can be added. If you know C (or are willing to learn), and have a some time to figure out a good way to do it.

Turn follow playlist on. General settings -> File View -> Follow Playlist

Quote from: the manual
This option determines what directory the File Browser displays first. If Follow Playlist is set to Yes, when you enter the File Browser from the WPS, you will find yourself in the same directory as the currently playing file. If Follow  Playlist is set to No, when you enter the File Browser from the WPS, you will find yourself in the directory you were in when you last left the File  Browser.

Might do what you want depending on how your files are organised.
