[iPod 5G] Keep resetting Rockbox on startup
(1/1)
micleg:
I have read the manual, checked the wiki and searched the forum, but noone seems to have this silly problem:
I have installed the Sept 19 build of the iPod 5G Rockbox but each time it has been connected to my computer and restarts after an eject it forgets everything it has learnt when it was turned on. All the settings are reset and the tag cache settings are cleared. To be able to play any music I have to initiate the tag cache and turn on ID3 files in show files.
Even the theme is reset! I'm just going to have to boot into the iPod 1.2 firmware instead. Sadly.
What am I doing wrong?
bluebrother:
have you turned on the hold switch upon booting? This clears the settings and is intended behaviour.
micleg:
I have had the hold switch turned on, but only when the unit was already off. Not while booting (I guess you mean to turn switch off, then turn iPod on and then turn switch off?)
Since I have changed a lot of settings I cannot use Rockbox if I have to set everything each time I charge the iPod. I have to find the reason for this behaviour.
Llorean:
Try writing a config file after you change the settings, so that at least you can recover them like that.
But, if your Hold Switch is on when you connect to the computer, it WILL clear the settings either when it turns on before it connects, or after it disconnects and automatically reboots into Rockbox.
