H1XX Flash issue
« on: September 19, 2006, 02:44:18 PM »
I've been using flashed version since the eeprom implementations a month or so ago and had no issues until recently when I copied the .rockbox folder and iriver.rockbox files over using the bootloader usb mode.

On removing from usb it continued to boot OK, but when i tried to flash the iriver.rockbox file it returned an incompatable version message.  (note music playback was still fine, just unable to run any plugins). This presumably is because the plugin version was bumped and the new files in the .rockbox folder were not operating in conjuction with the older iriver.rockbox file installed and operating from the flash.

I had to reload the older versions files and reflash the newer version after loading the firmware then using the normal bootloader (ie. non usb bootloader).

I just wanted to point this out incase anyone encounters the same problem, and to raise awareness of this potential issue (i don't think it's been mentioned before).

You should've been able to just click on the newer Rockbox.iriver to rolo into it, and then flashed from within that. In fact, I think that's the preferred method. It's probably better to not rewrite the ROM while you're running from it.

I just ran into the same issue this evening. I was glad to find this thread quickly, and get my player reflashed without a lot of hassle. Maybe someone should rewrite a part of the iriverflash page with this updated bit of info?

This worked for me:

Turn off the H140
Turn it on, but hold down the REC button to boot from disk
Follow the flashing procedure once more

Booting from disk should be identical to just clicking on the rockbox.iriver file to ROLO.

Yep, didn't think of that. Cheers.  ;D
