iRiver H120 : Replay gain / JRiver MC

(1/2) > >>

Araj:
Anyone running an iRiver H120, who uses JRiver MC to tag files and uses replay gain?

I analysed and tagged all my MP3s for replay gain with JRiver MC, but somehow when they're on the iRiver, the gain seems to get ignored by Rockbox

Thanks for any ideas

lowlight:
Are you using ID3v2 or APE tags?
APE tags will be ignored.

bascule:
I presume you have turned ReplayGain on?

If you have, it could be due to whether you did the Replaygain tags as Track Gain or Album Gain.

Araj:
I'm using ID3v2 tags

Yes, I turned replay gain on  ;D

I tried track gain, album gain and gain on shuffle

Could it have something to do with crossfade? Just occured to me now.

BTW, what are the pre-amp adjstments for in the replay gain menu?

Crossfade is unrelated. If the program supports writing ReplayGain information in ID3V2 tags, it sounds like it uses another format than the one used by Rockbox (and Foobar2000).

To see if Rockbox can read the information, open the ID3 information screen for the file. The ReplayGain values are shown here.

Since ReplayGain often lowers the volume, you can compensate for that. Can be useful if you have some files without ReplayGain information. But you might introduce clipping...
