Works fine on my identical iPod.
The trick is getting the timing right after the re-start.
You need to press and hold menu after the screen goes black but before the you see the Apple logo.

Theres a new bootloader that linuxstb made up. It lets you switch by just turning hold on while it restarts. It works everytime. Heres link. http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=7737.0

i try to load the ipod original firmware but i can`t, it keeps reboot the ipod and i can't make it load.
i followed the instructions but in the screen when appears "loading the original firmware" the ipod reboot and load rockbox instead of the original firmware
if i keep doing that the ipod reboot every time.

I have the 30 gb video ipod, And all i have to do to load original firmware is hold the menu and center button, Till it reboots soon as it starts to reboot i click the hold button over and it says loading original firmware works like a charm, I have done it 5 times repeatedly just to make sure its working right and not a problem yet even if i do it when i am playing doom, I have done without closing doom just reboot and load orginal firmware!
Pancho_DJ:
when i click the hold the ipod reboot and also sound like the hard drive is doing a lot work, sounds really bad
