Bootloading Original Apple Firmware on iPod

(1/2) > >>

Sippy:
I keep hearing people say that they want a way to use the original apple firmware for their music and rockbox for games and movies... well there is a way without the use of plugins or download ing anything...all you have to do is turn on your ipod, restart it (press and hold center button + menu for 3 sec) and as soon as it reboots (even before the apple logo comes up) hold down menu alone and you should c the blu rockbox background as normal except it will be saying : loading original firmware... this might take a few seconds. If this does not work the first time, tgry again as it might take a few tries or you are not holding menu down soon enough. Let me know how it works out for you guys.

bluebrother:
This is the intended behaviour.

The only issue IIRC is the fact that the button detection during bootup isn't working perfectly, which would explain why you sometimes need to try a few times. But I may be wrong at that.

Conphusion:
That explaination sorta confused me but I figured it out.

Switching to the Apple OS
While it is off, press MENU to turn it on then quickly press and hold the MENU button until it says loading original firmware.

Switching back to Rockbox
Hold down the CENTER and MENU button for 3 seconds.  It'll reset and load Rockbox again.

Pancho_DJ:
this method is not working on 60GB video ipod firmware1.2.1

Llorean:
Saying "this method is not working" is entirely unhelpful if you don't actually tell us what happens when you try it.
