I can't get past the rockbox step of c.2) Extract firmware binary

(1/1)

mettleh3d:
I have iplinux installed on my 1st gen nano.

I'm sorry, but I've read the instructions about 20 times over, and I just can't understand this step.  I've looked at the ipW forums and I can't understand how to extract firmware image using ipwizard.  I've found a button in iPW to extract ipod firmware BINARY, but is that the same as apple ipod firmware IMAGE?

even so, i extracted the ipod firmware and labled it as bootpartition.bin, but i don't know where to put the folder "ipod_fw"  anyway.

Sorry, I'm new to all this and I would appreciate any help.  Thanks

There are 1 billlion people who've installed rockbox and not one of you can point me in the right direction?

I think that only a fraction of those who have installed Rockbox have also installed IPL.  And of that fraction, most have probably used the self-installer that apparently is available from IPL.

L:
Check out the ipod wizard's site on how to use that program.

You can put ipod_fw.exe anywhere. just navigate to the folder using your command line interface.

If I am trying to get rockbox to work with ipodlinux's bootloader, one would think to go to ipodlinux's site to get information on how to get their bootloader to do this.

http://ipodlinux.org/Loader_2#Loading_the_Rockbox_firmware

Unless you wanted to use Rockbox's bootloader to load either, which is a different method...
